The short version

Consultant Notes collects no personal data. Everything you log stays in your own browser. Nothing is ever sent to any server operated by Sveltify LLC or any third party.

1. Who we are

Consultant Notes is a Chrome browser extension (and web app) developed and maintained by Sveltify LLC. This Privacy Policy describes how the extension handles your information.

2. Data we do not collect

Consultant Notes does not collect, transmit, store on external servers, or share any of the following:

  • Your name, email address, or any account information
  • The notes, projects, or work log entries you create
  • The URLs or page titles of pages you visit
  • Browsing history or activity
  • Device identifiers or IP addresses
  • Any analytics, telemetry, or usage statistics

3. Where your data is stored

All notes, projects, settings, and preferences are stored exclusively in your browser using Chrome's built-in IndexedDB and chrome.storage.local APIs. This data:

  • Never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it or use GitHub Gist sync
  • Is never accessible to Sveltify LLC
  • Can be fully deleted by uninstalling the extension or clearing browser data

4. GitHub Gist sync (optional)

If you choose to use the optional Gist sync feature, you provide your own GitHub personal access token. That token is stored locally in your browser and is used solely to read and write to a private GitHub Gist that you own. No token or note data is ever sent to Sveltify LLC.

5. Obsidian export (optional)

If you use the Obsidian export feature, note data is sent directly to your local Obsidian vault via the Obsidian URI protocol. This communication happens entirely on your device — no data passes through any external server.

6. Permissions explained

Consultant Notes requests the following Chrome permissions, each used solely to deliver core functionality:

  • storage — to save your preferences locally in Chrome's storage
  • sidePanel — to display your notes in Chrome's built-in side panel
  • activeTab — to read selected text and the current page URL for quick-log capture
  • contextMenus — to offer a right-click "Log with Consultant Notes" shortcut
  • scripting — to inject the quick-log overlay on the active page when you select text

7. Website analytics

This marketing website (consultantnotes.com) uses Usermaven for privacy-first analytics, configured in strict mode. Usermaven in strict mode does not collect personal data, does not use cookies, and does not fingerprint visitors. Only aggregated, anonymised page-view data is recorded to help us understand which pages are useful.

The Chrome extension itself contains no analytics, telemetry, or remote code of any kind — all extension JavaScript is bundled locally at build time.

8. Children's privacy

Consultant Notes is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a future version, the updated policy will be published at this URL and the "Last updated" date will be revised.
